Who am I?
I'm not important. You are. Your stories are.
Why am I doing this?
I was broke and couldn't afford film school until much, much later. In some ways, it was worth it. It's true people go to film school for the connections and that's how the movie industry works. It's really who you know. But if you don't know anybody getting into the movie industry is still possible.
The first time I got a job in film was in 2018 and I wasn't in school for it. I only went to school for structure so I could cover all my bases and not feel like an idiot on set. Fast forward years later, I'm now a working professional and have been a part of more than 15 film productions. Even though I still don't know how I feel about this industry, I want you, The Aspiring Filmmaker At Home, to have all the resources you need to get started without having to go into debt for it.
Everything I learned in school and in productions is here. Make of it as you will. You can thank me later as you curse and fight off sleep for the hundredth time after a long, grueling 18-hour shoot or you can just pass this on.
For now, make small films. Build grit. Enjoy the process.
You are a filmmaker.
